I think the numbers are not yet in and that the blurb from Science Insider is perhaps posted too early. My institution is waiting for the validation of roughly 30% of our submissions and we are not alone. Nothing uploaded into Commons from Monday, and I think it will be a not insignificant number of applications.

Just my 2 cents worth.
