I have another twist to the DUNS number issue: The bad news is, it seems that Grants.gov is now sending the copy of the proposal it rejected due to the DUNS number error on to NIH, and this is causing the duplicate submission error in the Commons. The good news is (which I just confirmed with the NIH Helpdesk -- pasted below), is that only the second copy gets rejected. As long the first copy of the proposal still has an active AN: link, that copy will go forward. Problem: esubmissions issues Resolution: Informed the user that she does not have to reject grants that do not have AN numbers. If 2 grants with AN numbers appear in the system, she may reject one of them appropriately. I would also like to say how much I appreciate this listserv. I have learned so much, and in these crazy times it is nice to know that I am not alone in the situation. I specifically told the help desk person that the MPIN is for CCR and that I did not understand what it had to do with escalating my issue to the next level. I was informed rather curtly that if I did not provide it, the issue would not be escalated. I offered our FEID but was told that was not sufficient. Then, obviously reading from a checklist, she asked a series of what I consider totally irrelevant questions - I was not having technical difficulties submitted the application, I was having an issue with a DUNS number error. I would urge those who experienced this behavior by the G.g help desk to report this up the G.g food chain, starting with Michael Pellegrino. They really should not be doing this.
