Re: Last Minute Submissions Brown, Leesa 27 Apr 2009 22:34 EST

Well, I don't know what is going on. The g.g help desk said it is an IT problem on our end. The director of our IT department spent over an hour working on it and couldn't find anything wrong. We tried laptops, different servers, various computers, dropping into Explorer, etc. Nothing except the g.g error message. We finally gave up around 6:30 and I sent e-mails to both the g.g help desk and NIH help desk. I already had a g.g ticket but I wanted one from NIH.

I came home and a few minutes ago I tried to submit which I have never done from home. It wouldn't work off the desk top so I dragged and dropped into Explorer and the darn thing went through with no problems and I even got the first validation e-mail about 2 minutes later.

Of course, I am 3 1/2 hours late.

My PI was extremely subdued watching the IT director and me work over his application like an ER crew. I doubt if he will ever ignore my deadlines again. Also, did I mention that he is sick with the flu? He will probably give me swine flu. Didn't someone else's PI give them roses?

Thanks for everyone's help. Now I just need to beg NIH to give me a break and accept the late application

Same problem with our S2S, but the error we get is more detailed and says: gov.grants.business.exception.GrantsBusinessException: Temporary Directory for storing sumissions at "/Products_Grants_gov/conf/ReceiptTempDirectory/GRANT----" does not exist.::Temporary Directory for storing sumissions at "/Products_Grants_gov/conf/ReceiptTempDirectory/GRANT10288635" does not exist.

I am just going to keep trying. Good luck!

Well, this is what happens when you wait until the last minute. I can't get my application to submit. After I hit sign and submit, it slogs along then a window that pops up saying an error occurred during transmission.

I tried to send again - no go. I did all my little tricks of cleaning out my history, lowering security, turning off pop up blocker then rebooting - still no go.

I am on hold with the g.g help desk but any ideas would be appreciated.

Sadly, I have to agree that you have to do your best to send it in, and hope that next time around they understand what your deadline means versus the submission deadline itself. Whether they learn from the experience, who knows.....depends on the PI

As irritating as this stuff is, that's your job. They learn from their failure with the sponsor's review not your potential castigation. Unless you were submitting a couple of dozen other proposals, you send it in.

Hello all,

How would you have handled getting an ARRA application that came in around 10 PM last night without all of the components (e.g. no budget, biosketch, or collaborators info)? Would you have tried to usurp the grant clearance process and have moved heaven and earth to submit by 5?

Thanks in advance!
