Re: HELP!! Adobe... how to set computer to open in reader Shapiro, Steve 24 Apr 2009 15:50 EST

Hi Erin,

First, if you recall "old Posts" that address an issue, you can use the link at the bottom of this message to get to the archive of those posts to look it up.

Adobe 6 and 9 may not play well together, and there are numerous security issues with Acrobat 6 Professional. It is not advisable to use Acrobat 6 due to these issues. I don't have access to Acrobat 6 anymore, so the fixes I'm suggesting may not work.

1) to change which Acrobat opens files when you click on them: (I'm assuming you are on a PC)
My Computer --> Tools --> Folder Options --> File Types --> Scroll down to PDF --> bottom box [Opens with] probably says Acrobat 6.1 --> Click Change --> Browse to Acrobat 9.1 Reader

2) To make 9.1 the default version in your browser
Open Acrobat Reader 9.1 with no document --> Edit --> Preferences --> Internet --> Check the box that says Display PDF in Browser

I hope that is correct and helps.

Subject: [RESADM-L] HELP!! Adobe... how to set computer to open in reader

Help....
I have recently had Adobe issues and my computer support team came to the rescue and re-installed my Adobe prof 6. I re-loaded my adobe reader 9.1

Now when Im attempting to open application packages, they are defaulting to the old prof version, rather than opening in reader.

I do recall old posts about this problem and people knew how to change computer settings to open into reader... can anyone advise? I can't remember how I did it last time......

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
