Further to Marta's comment. We have done 125 applications in the last 48 hours (since 2pm Tuesday). All before that time are in Validated or to sponsor. Some applications are being processed with our S2S process and some with Adobe. Medical School has not adopted the S2S yet, for example. All of the S2S submissions are validated and none of the Adobe ones validated from among that 125. I guess there is some value to S2S. In any event, I am sleeping well in the knowledge that Grants.gov is meeting its 48 hour guarantee. Most important, only 1 of the 190 submissions since Monday had a Grants.gov rejection, and that was in fact a real error -- bad file name. So now I wonder if the recent Grants.gov fix has improved things. It was NIH applications that were filling up the process. 86,000 in the second quarter. What agencies are now taking applications out of the Grants.gov stream, who were not already avoiding this process. We know NASA and NSF were not using Grants.gov before so if they take out the couple hundred there might have been that would make no difference. Has Grants.gov turned the sluggishness corner? Are people logging in ok, are you getting fairly quick submissions, are you getting false errors? Are you getting longer than 48 hour validations. If there had not been the need for so many resubmissions due to NIH errors would the process have been faster? I know we’re trying to be patient, due to MASSIVE volume for all the Challenge grant submissions, but I want to make sure that I’m not the only one who is still waiting for a validation (as well as the other) g.g e-mail for a proposal submitted late Tuesday afternoon. I find myself waking up in the middle of the night and fighting to not jump out of bed and log onto the computer to see if my proposals have shown up in eCommons yet. I know how pathetic that is but I also know that all of you can relate even if my family and non-research administrator friends can’t!
