This is a troublesome error that I have heard about from others. Many times it is caused by a second, blank, page that gets "trapped" in the file when the PDF is made. The help desk reports "Applicants should follow the RFA instructions which indicate limiting the file to one page. The eRA system will only throw the error "The Project Summary/Abstract in Other Project Information, item 6 is limited to 30 lines of text." if the pdf file exceeds one page." If anyone gets this error take a look in the file for that phantom extra page. They said just because you can put in a full page of text, best not to do so :) Bob ------------------------------ Robert Beattie Member, NIH Commons Working Group Member, FDP eRA Standing Committee UMich e-Business Point of Contact UMich Grants.gov Liaison Managing Senior Project Representative for Electronic Research Administration Division of Research Development and Administration University of Michigan xxxxxx@umich.edu (734) 936-1283 On Apr 22, 2009, at 5:10 PM, Jennifer Hyne wrote: For what it's worth, we had a one-page summary (approximately 36 lines) today and our proposal errored out of the system. Here's the message we got: ERROR: The Project Summary/Abstract in Other Project Information, item 6 is limited to 30 lines of text. WARNING: The Employer Identification Number on the SF424 RR Cover page must be a length of 9 characters or 12 characters. (We had an extra space after the EIN but that was just a warning.) The entire proposal errored out SOLELY due to the length of the abstract, which was very clearly under the one page limit. Jennifer E.
