With my little exposure to grants. I thought NIH grants policy says if you don't have negotiated rate for patient care costs, it should be at Medicare reimbursement rate? I do not know about the categories, but would like to learn more about them. thanks -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@hrinet.org] On Behalf Of McManus, Beth Sent: Friday, April 17, 2009 7:11 AM To: xxxxxx@hrinet.org Subject: [RESADM-L] Patient Care Costs I was hoping someone could shed some light on this budget category. We are submitting a Challenge Grant application that includes a variety of tests and procedures for the subjects. One test is done on an overnight basis. We do not have a DHHS negotiated research patient care rate, however we have an in-house research rate that we will use for the procedure. We aren't certain whether this should be listed as an "inpatient" cost or simply under "other direct costs" and how we should to justify it Additionally, there are other tests (scans) that will be done on an outpatient basis and visit costs with the physician. How would you categorize these? Thanks for your valuable insight. We have contacted the Grants.gov Help Desk and the Program Officer as well as others who have been recommended by G.g or NIH, but no one seems to have the definitive answer. The PI has also been in touch with both the program officer and the help desk. Help Desk at NIH thinks this is an IT problem -- anyone else experiencing this? thanks, Bill William Ploog, Ph.D. Associate Director Office of Sponsored Projects Dartmouth College 11 Rope Ferry Rd. #6210 Hanover, NH 03755-1404 (603) 646-3682 fax (603)646-3670 ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ====================================================================== ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ====================================================================== ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ====================================================================== ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ======================================================================
