NIH collaborative grants Zoya Hamilton 02 Apr 2009 11:51 EST

Dear Colleagues,

What is the difference between a regular R01 and Collaborative R01? Both
allow for subawards and multi-PI arrangement.

The only hint that I found in the RFA is this:

"For each set of linked collaborative R01 applications, it is expected
that each application will be coordinated and interlocked with the
others as each application will contribute an essential component to the
overall study."

However, on the NIH web site is states that the ability to manage
research projects using linked awards involving PIs located at more than
one institution is a feature *"**that NIH is Assessing for Potential
Development in the Future"**

**So, if there are two identical RFAs, and the only difference is that
one of them is collaborative, how do you decide which one to respond to?

Thanks very much,***
**
