Amen! If small universities/institutes are frustated with the grants.gov
issues, consider the predicament of the many small, not-for-profit
organizations, remote county or municipal entities, community
partnerships, etc., who do not actually employ a single person whose
sole task is grant development.

I am thankful everyday for the universities and other organizations with
larger grant-funded enterprises who have taken the brunt of this fiasco
and raised a cry on behalf of the whole community. Bless your
pea-picking hearts! If not for your comments on RESADM-L, as well as
discussions at NCURA and SRA, I would not have learned how to prepare my
own organization for this brave new world.

I know that there are millions and millions of grant dollars at stake in
your respective operations and that dozens of proposals a week (or day)
go through your hands. They are critical requests. For those of us with
smaller operations, the effort to prepare and submit a single federal
proposal can be daunting, if not overwhelming. I wonder if the
administrators of Grants.gov have considered the potential disparity
created by these added technology challenges?

I couldn't agree more (coming from a small university)!

I contacted g.g help desk to get a case number, and was told "your
package is just messed up". When I asked what that meant exactly I was
informed that someone other than me must have opened the package in an
unsupported version of adobe and that I should download a new
application, re-enter all of the information and try again. when I
pointed out that I was the only person to work in the package and that
we use Adobe 9.0 and 9.1 (both of which are supported) I was then told
to "try and resubmit". I have resubmitted. The package has been
received and is now undergoing validation.

This is a small company with a VERY small research admin office and we
have lots of other responsibilities besides submitting applications -
pre-award, post-award, human resources, accounts payables and
receivables, IRB, etc. etc. It is inconceivable to me that anyone at
g.g thinks that this is an appropriate way for any of us to spend our
time.

This was the error du jour yesterday. Looks like it will be haunting us
today!
First option is to just resubmit. If that fails the second time, then
try redoing the application from a fresh download. It is a shame that
General Dynamics Information Technology cannot get this system fixed.
