Subject: [RESADM-L] Help Grants.gov with new system
Grants.gov has announced that the new System Build was successful over the
weekend. There are a number of changes, including capability to handle
2000 users.
All aspects of the build are described here
http://www.grants.gov/assets/SystemEnhancements2008-03A.pdf
I suspect that there never was a real test of the system dealing with 2000
users, so maybe we can give it a try now.
Many of us have some R01's hanging over until Monday to resubmit. Others
could join in by sending a practice file. By that I mean, open a
previously submitted application, change the DUNS number so it will get
rejected, and submit.
In order to make such a test, we will all need to log in at the same time
in all four time zones. May I suggest that we all do this at 10am Pacific,
11am Mountain, 12noon Central, and 1am Eastern. There are not 2000 of us
but maybe can muster a couple hundred. Can we all log in to submit and
send? A big question.
I know some will have applications that you want to get in ASAP and if the
system fails at the test time, you can do it later, when there are just
those active submitters left. We must not have a repetition of the Feb 5
chaos come the week before March 05. If the system will not bear all of us,
we need to find out now.
I hope everyone will give it a go a the designated time. If you get the
same old virus reports, and false errors, and cryptic notes, let us know.
Maybe to cut down on the group traffic, for those not interested in
Grants.gov, send your experience to me and I will make a report to the
group.

This should be very interesting. So hold off on your real resubmits until
the 10-11-12-1 time points. Others make up a practice file (change DUNS
number). Every one hit the "Save and Submit" on the target time. I sure
hope we find that the system is a big GO.
keep in touch,
Bob
