Re: replacement of equipment loss due to theft Lesley Zajac 17 Dec 2008 16:07 EST

We have had equipment (laptops and PDAs) stolen from both our
coordinating center and from clinical sites and we have always filed a
claim with our insurance company or have the clinical center file a
claim with their insurance company first. If that does not fully cover
the cost of replacement, then we would in all probability provide a
replacement from the grant funds if the budget permitted. However we
are small self-contained organization - I would imagine things would be
different at larger institutions.

Subject: [RESADM-L] replacement of equipment loss due to theft

If a break-in occurs and computers are stolen that are for an Upward
Bound
program, is the grant responsible for replacing them? I thought the
university
should insure or at least be responsible for equipment on its property
regardless of the original funding source. Any input?
