Re: precautionary note Schmitt, Andrea L 06 Nov 2008 19:13 EST
Sorry to hear this happened to others, I had a similar experience. I tried to pay my SRA membership when I was at the meeting, the charge went through 4 times and my Visa Debit card was cancelled by my bank. It also wiped out all the remaining funds in my bank account, so my husband also couldn't access any money from our bank account until the charges were reversed 2 days later. I know I should have a credit card for emergencies like this, but I don't. It all worked out in the end anyway. ***PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF NEW EMAIL ADDRESS*** Andrea Schmitt Grants Administrator Sun Health Research Institute 10515 West Santa Fe Dr. Sun City, AZ 85351 623-876-5628 623-876-5461 (fax) xxxxxx@bannerhealth.com -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@hrinet.org] On Behalf Of Dianne Bozler Sent: Thursday, November 06, 2008 1:08 PM To: xxxxxx@hrinet.org Subject: Re: [RESADM-L] precautionary note The credit card that I used to register as a vendor at SRA had unauthorized transactions the day after I faxed my credit card information to the SRA office. I received a call at home from my credit card company concerned that there were several purchases of gasoline from the same gas station in Hartford, Conn. My company is in California and I had not lost my credit card. I had to cancel the card and be issued a new one. Dianne A. I was fortunate to have a colleague attending the same meeting pick up other expenses during my stay since I only carry one credit card when traveling. This new corporate credit card was used for the first time during this trip. I had one that originated in MD ten days after I left National Harbor, and the only place where I gave out my card details was at the hotel where we all stayed. The charge was not from the hotel, perhaps somebody got access to the hotel records. My bank is investigating it, but in the meantime I thought I'd let you know. -- Zoya Hamilton, CRA Sr. Associate Director, Research Administration Office of the Vice Provost Tufts University Tel (617) 636-6709 Fax (617) 636-2917 http://www.tufts.edu/central/ ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ====================================================================== ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ====================================================================== ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ====================================================================== ====================================================================== Instructions on how to use the RESADM-L Mailing List, including subscription information and a web-searchable archive, are available via our web site at http://www.hrinet.org (click on "Listserv Lists") ======================================================================
