TITLE: Research Coordinator
CATEGORY: Exempt, 12-month, Full-Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) seeks applications for the Research Coordinator, responsible for participating in financial analysis and reporting for the Institute. The incumbent will be responsible for extracting financial data from various accounting and information systems, performing financial and cost accounting analysis of data, developing financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
The Research Coordinator will be required to apply a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations to verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and sponsor regulations; assisting in the development and implementation of business policy and procedures in relation to research, state and other funds while maintaining audit compliant business operations. The incumbent will assist in the general and special activities of the business operations of the JQI. As the JQI is jointly administered with the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), the incumbent will be required to interact and provide financial reports to NIST and LPS as well as the University.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required; concentration in accounting, business, and/or finance preferred. Three years related financial experience required. Additional education may be substituted for some experience. Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing required. Priority software experiences a plus.
In addition, the following knowledge and skills are required: ability to analyze financial data and extract and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability; working knowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing principles, theory and practices; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including advanced expertise with Microsoft Excel; ability to work independently on complex assignments; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact; experience administering research funding and the use of University financial systems preferred.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
