The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) seeks applications
for a Grants Management Specialist opening to support the Office of
Research, Innovation and Commercialization (RIC).  The position requires a
bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or another
appropriate field with 4 or more years of related experience.  Equivalent
combination of education and experience may be considered.  Advanced
knowledge and understanding of statutes regulations, guidelines and
procedures of grant administration is also required.

Responsibilities:  Incumbent will provide oversight for UMBI’s proposals
submission process reviewing all UMBI grant proposals and working with
Center administrative staff and faculty to correct deficiencies related to
sponsor administrative requirements. In addition, incumbent will prepare and
sign correspondence and transmittal letters required for proposal submission
and will be the signature authority of proposals up to $500,000 in total
award.  Additional responsibilities include, working with the Associate VP
to review and negotiate award and sub-award instruments; this position will
supervise an Administrative Assistant.  In addition, incumbent will be
expected to maintain a high level of knowledge of multiple sponsor proposal
submission and grant award requirements, training central and center staff
on those requirements where needed,  while providing superior professional
level customer service to both internal and external customers.
