Summary
Responsible for high level strategic and budgetary analysis for institutional and sponsored funds. Preparation of budgetary analysis for quarterly board meetings. Responsible for the financial and regulatory management of research activities in a portfolio of laboratories.
Responsibilities Include:
Strategic & Budgetary Analysis
. Analyze costs and revenues of sponsored and institutional funds to assist senior management's decision-making.
. Forecast Institute's F&A recovery.
. Preparation of budgetary analysis for quarterly board meetings.
. High level financial analysis of compensation and fringe benefits.
Fiscal and Regulatory Management of a Portfolio of Laboratories
. Develop and maintain fiscal year budgets for each laboratory, conducting monthly variance analyses to explain variations.
. Provide monthly financial reports to the laboratories.
. Meet quarterly with PIs and Lab Administrators to review financial reports.
. Specific post-award duties may involve evaluating requests for equipment purchases and pre-award expenditures, reviewing awards for appropriate expenditures, and reviewing effort reporting and cost transfers.
. Provide assistance to PIs and Lab Administrators in interpreting award terms and conditions.
. Resolve award-related problems and concerns with funding agencies as needed.
. Work collaboratively with all administrative departments to resolve issues related to revenue, AP, F&A recognition, benefits recognition, stipend allocation, and other issues affecting awards management.
. Submit all closeout documents required by sponsors at the conclusion of awards.
Qualifications:
. MBA or other relevant professional/graduate degree preferred, and a minimum of seven years of grants/budget experience at a non-profit or academic research institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
. Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
. Working knowledge of federal financial reporting requirements, including OMB Circular A-122, A-110, and PHS Grants Policy Statement, FAR.
. Ability to perform complex financial analysis under tight deadlines.
. Strong organization, collaboration and communications skills (both oral and written).
. Ability to interpret, explain and apply complex regulations, policies, and procedures.
. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
