Director of Research Compliance
Office of Research Initiatives

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Research Initiatives, the
Director of Research Compliance is responsible for establishing a
research compliance infrastructure which supports the research
enterprise at Santa Clara University.  With significant professional
discretion and judgment, this person will be responsiblefor providing
leadership and high quality service to faculty, administrators and
sponsors in managing the compliance aspects of their sponsored programs.
 Work will include the development, implementation, and management of
research compliance activities related to human and animal research.

Essential duties and responsibilities include oversight of the Human
Subjects Committee, the Animal Use and Care Committee and Facility, as
well as Export Controls, Financial Conflict of Interest, Biosafety,
Radiation Safety, and Laboratory Safety, supervision of senior
administrative assistant and other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:Master���s degree required. Two years of experience
working in research compliance field is preferred. One year of general
research experience is required.  Three to five years of general
research experience is preferred.  Strong verbal and written skills.
Professional service-oriented demeanor.  Ability to communicate
effectively with all levels and types of faculty and staff. Knowledge of
research compliance regulations. Demonstrated ability to create and
present workshop materials effectively. Demonstrated expertise with word
processing, database management, and spreadsheets (MS Word, Excel and
Access software). Demonstrated ability to work effectively under the
pressure of externally determined deadlines and shifting priorities.
Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks, work
independently and be detail-oriented. Demonstrated ability to complete
projects from inception to implementation. Understand and support the
values and ideals of Jesuit education.
