ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF SPONSORED PROGRAMS

Health Research, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with the New
York State Department of Health, seeks an Assistant Director for the Office
of Sponsored Programs, located within our corporate office in Menands, NY.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing the daily
operations of the office and assisting with pre-award/post award management
of grants and contracts. The successful candidate will provide
administrative leadership in securing extramural funding, as well as the
technical lead in negotiating contracts and assuring compliance with all
applicable federal and sponsor regulations. Additional responsibilities
include: management of staff duties and responsibilities; establishing
policies and procedures; monitoring changes in federal/sponsor regulations;
training; monthly, annual, and ad hoc reporting; representing the
department on various committees, employee forums, etc.; and acting as
point of contact in absence of the Director.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree with five years of experience in
sponsored research administration, including management responsibilities.
Extensive familiarity with OMB circulars and FAR regulations is required.
Certified Research Administrator designation is preferred. The successful
candidate must have demonstrated leadership skills, deep and broad-based
knowledge of extramural funding and grant administration requirements,
technical skills in electronic grant administration, ability to handle
multiple priorities, and excellent communication skills.
Salary is at the rate of: $66,914-$74,210, commensurate with education and
