Cornell University's Office of Sponsored Programs is seeking an
experienced research administrator to serve as a senior member of the
team that provides sponsored award administration services, expertise,
and guidance to advance the institution's research and other sponsored
programs. Cornell is a preeminent research and teaching institution
with over $400 million dollars of annual sponsored activity on the
Ithaca campus across a broad array of disciplines including the physical
sciences, engineering, life sciences, veterinary medicine, and social
sciences. The Senior GCO will represent the university and
investigators to sponsors in proposal submission, award negotiation and
execution, and other collaborations. She/he will lead multi-party
negotiations, serve as a resource to investigators, administrators, and
management, develop training and tools to assist customers, and
contribute to the implementation of strategies to enhance services and
the success of investigators.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2,
preferably at least 6, years of experience in research administration in
higher education or similar organization, with proven effective
communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills. Demonstrated
success in contract negotiation, and in interpretation and risk-based
application of government and other sponsor regulations in the context
of business goals. Exceptional customer service focus and ability to
work in deadline focused environment. Candidates with an advanced
degree, management experience, and experience in law, public policy, or
similar area, with the desire to contribute toward advancement of
research are also encouraged to apply.
