Associate Director of Sponsored Projects Accounting, Office of Sponsored Projects Administration (Job No. 7423), minimum annual salary is $46,421, posted 08/06/07 REPOSTED The incumbent will be responsible for leading and managing the core functions of the Sponsored Project Accounting unit including cash management, financial cash transaction reporting, collections, and effort reporting. The establishment and implementation of effective systems and internal controls over these activities will be a critical function. These tasks will be conducted in close collaboration with the academic administration and with the grants and contracts management group in Sponsored Project Accounting and the pre-award services group in the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration. REQUIREMENTS: Experience -- Requires at least five years of experience in sponsored projects administration, financial management, and/or audit. Experience with both pre-award and post-award aspects of sponsored projects administration is preferred. Requires prior successful leadership experience in a complex research-intensive institution. Preference for experience in a private research university with an academic medical center. Education/Licensing -- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or other related field required. Master’s degree or CPA preferred, but significant pre-award or post-award sponsored projects financial management experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Essential Skills -- Commitment to research excellence and growth in research funding. Understanding of and commitment to effective compliance with research regulations and restrictions. Thorough knowledge of effective internal controls over sponsored projects compliance including financial reporting, cost transfers, and effort reporting. Detailed knowledge of federal/state/private sponsor regulations and procedures relating to the post award administration of grants. Highly motivated with a strong service orientation. Ability to work as part of the leadership team. Must be an effective communicator and advocate exercising strong interpersonal skills with the ability to bring people together to create solutions and to forge a successful conclusion and, when necessary, to communicate difficult messages effectively. Ability to organize and manage projects with a focus on results and deadlines. Technical Skills -- Extensive knowledge of current Federal regulations of sponsored project activities. Extensive knowledge of effective methods of internal control over sponsored projects compliance with Federal regulations and University policies. Familiarity with the requirements and nuances of A-133 reporting. Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials a plus.
