The Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, CA is seeking
a Grants Information Assistant.
The Grants Administration Office seeks a responsible individual to
assist with information technology functions related to government
and voluntary health agency grants. The successful candidate will
assist with the preparation of grant, contract, and fellowship
proposals in a variety of formats across different platforms, will
troubleshoot electronic submission issues, and assist with the
maintenance of the existing grants management information system for
preaward and postaward data and with the evaluation of a replacement
system. A motivated individual will have the potential to further
define his/her responsibilities.
Functions:
Assist with processing grant, contract and fellowship applications
and related documents, paper and on-line systems. Assist with the
maintenance of the department tickler system and department website.
Update department databases. Technical point of contact for PC/Mac
operating system and/or software questions. Open and sort mail,
order supplies, file. Process closeout documents.
Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. degree with a minimum of three years of experience with
a nonprofit
research institution or university. Excellent interpersonal,
communication and service
skills to work effectively to establish and maintain effective
relationships with the
scientific and administrative staff. Strong prioritizing, attention
to detail, and the ability
to multi-task and quickly abstract information and solve problems in
a deadline-driven
environment. Mac and PC proficient, with advanced knowledge of word
processing,
FileMaker Pro, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, terminal emulation, and
collaboration tools
(document sharing, calendaring, etc). Experience building
applications to manage data
and/or scripting automation desired.
