Pre-Award Grants and Contracts Specialist I-II (UCP VI-VII)
Office for Sponsored Programs

The University of Connecticut, Storrs Campus, is seeking a Pre-Award
Grants & Contracts Specialist in its centralized research administration
office, the Office for Sponsored Programs.

The Pre-Award Grants and Contracts Specialist will be responsible for
the review of proposed grants, commitments and budgets, and will provide
guidance and technical assistance to principal investigators and
department administrators in the electronic or other submission of
applications and related documents, ensuring compliance with sponsor,
federal, state and University policies.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be self-motivated, able to work
independently or as a member of a team, and use sound professional
judgment in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.  Knowledge of
rules and regulations governing technical aspects of grants and
sponsored projects is required.  Bachelor's Degree plus four years of
relevant experience or at least eight years relevant experience in a
business organization or government agency is required; higher education
experience preferred.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated
attention to detail and excellent oral, written and interpersonal
skills.  Experience developing budgets is required.  Working knowledge
of MS Excel and Word are required.  Experience using Grants.gov, InfoEd
or similar electronic research administration system a plus.  Must be
able to work a regular schedule between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00
p.m., with occasional nights and weekends in order to facilitate
customer service objectives.  Consideration for the higher, UCP 7 level
position requires advanced professional experience in research
administration with greater level of autonomy including a thorough
knowledge and understanding of University, state and private industry
rules and regulations governing technical aspects of grants and
contracts and the ability to interpret technical contract language and
its implications.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, permanent position.  Rank and salary
will be commensurate with experience, with a target starting salary
range or $47,000 to $50,000 for the UCP 6 level position.
