We (here at Kaiser Permanente, Institute for Health Research - Non-profit
research entity) have several Investigators who we collaborate with on an
ongoing basis that work for the University.
Our Investigators who work with them have been calling them Affiliate
Investigators and allow them access to our resources and data when
needed/appropriate. We have the necessary HIPAA paperwork in place but do
not have a policy or Affiliate Agreements with these people. As chair of the
Policy and Procedures Committee I have drafted a policy and accompanying
agreement but am getting push back against legitimizing this process and
these relationships. Our Investigators are wary of anything they think might
box them in (not unique to us, I know).
I have been asked to provide data as to how other organizations handle these
relationships. Any ideas, documentation, policies or agreement templates
would be greatly appreciated!
