Dear Diane,
I have the professional edition and we do use it quite a bit because in
addition to sponsored research, we also share the cost with the
development office who uses it a lot to look up potential foundation gift
prospects. it is helpful to get the giving history off the 990's and to do
customized search. While i like having it for project, program grants, it
is not very useful for research grants. At my last institutions, I used
the free aspects of the site (RFP Bulletin, and free access to 990 when
you already know what foundation you are looking for). I couldn't justify
the costs at the last place, but here given we are a completely
soft-funded research center who also seek restricted gifts, it makes more
sense.
Kris
I have a multiple user (3) license. When it was a singular license, all
the searching fell on me, while now with the extrra license, i share the
password with researchers and enncourgae them to do some of their own
searching.
