JOB TITLE: Post-Award Administrator REQ. #: 078734 ORG. TYPE: Higher Education LOCATION: Chicago, IL (Hyde Park Neighborhood) SALARY: Based on Experience REPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a Post-Award Administrator who will approve expenditures on all restricted funds in the Department of Pediatrics. Monitor expenditures on approximately 320 active individual faculty accounts. Reconcile expenditures with monthly FAS reports, and provide quarterly projections (using Excel) to approximately 65 faculty with accounts. Advise faculty of problem spending patterns including both under and over spending, and convey such problems to the Research Administrator (Post Award). Propose solutions to discovered problems and fix according to proper policy and procedures. Compare actual expenditures to budgets with special attention to faculty salary recovery. Develop a working knowledge of policies, University allowable cost policies and the fundamentals of sponsored academic research in a medical institution. Create and maintain databases using Microsoft Excel or Access as they pertain to the financial functioning of the section. Follow-up with corporate, institutional and agency staff in regard to reimbursement, grant payment and general financial matters. Prepare Departmental payroll transmittal forms and institutional payroll transfer forms to change and correct salary distributions on accounts. Attend institutional and outside training classes that cover financial, post-award topics as well as computer training. Provide quarterly projections to the Research Administrator (Post Award) to consolidate into department overall financial statements. Reconcile grants salary recovery with operating expectations. Compare actual expenditures to budgets. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business, finance or a related field required; minimum three years of grant administration, finance, accounting, and/or clinical management experience preferred; knowledge of computers, including spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications required; experience with FAS, Business Objects, and academic medical operations preferred; understanding of fund accounting principles, federal and major non- federal post-award policies, University allowable cost policies, and the fundamentals of sponsored academic research in a medical institution preferred.
