TITLE: Research Administrator

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a Research
Administrator (Post Award) to plan, organize, direct and manage the business
affairs of all research activities within the Department of Pediatrics. Manage
the administrative and fiscal responsibilities for all research activities for the
Department of Pediatrics, including strategic planning, space planning, human
resources management, financial management and reporting, research
appointments, graduate/training programs, grant and contract administration,
information technology, facilities management, shared equipment and cores,
safety and regulatory compliance, purchasing, and other support services.
Supervise the Grants and Contracts Office and accept administrative
responsibility for research, academic, and health and safety concerns as they
relate to business affairs, budget preparation and administrative activities
associated with research administration. Serve as liaison between the
Department of Pediatrics administrative offices, other University administrative
offices and external organizations, as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in a related field
or an MBA preferred; minimum five years of experience in an
administrative/supervisory capacity required, preferably in an academic
institution; thorough knowledge of accounting and business principles required;
well developed financial analysis, managerial, and supervisory skills required;
knowledge of human resources functions required; thorough knowledge of
grant and contract administration and funding sources preferred; familiarity
with medical and scientific terminology preferred; knowledge of laboratory
health and safety regulations preferred; thorough knowledge of computerized
systems and various software packages used in research and research
administration preferred; thorough knowledge of the University's organization
and administrative, academic, and financial policies and guidelines preferred;
highly developed verbal and written communication, negotiating, counseling,
organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
