Fly America Act Tara Riemer Jones 28 Feb 2008 14:01 EST

I have a subawardee (federal funds) arguing that we should allow costs
for past travel that is not in line with the Fly America Act, and one of
their arguments is that their auditors didn't know about the rule, and
that they have spoken with other auditors in the San Francisco Bay area,
and they have not found auditors familiar with this rule.

Now I do not believe that ignorance is an excuse, but I am curious to
know if anyone has auditors who ask about Fly America Act compliance.
In my limited experience in the grants world, I've never actually had
auditors ask about FAA, although if they did we have all of the required
backup in the files.

Thanks!
Tara
