Fwd: Important Software Version Announcement: Adobe Reader
Bob Beattie 06 Feb 2008 12:44 EST
Grants.gov staff have issued the announcement below about Adobe
Reader 8.1.2 and have updated their web site about 8.1.2. As I
understand the situation, they will soon be installing a "fail-safe"
mechanism in the applications that will warn if a wrong version of
Adobe is used to open the program. It might well be possible in the
near future to use Professional or Reader 8.1.1 or later version. So
no problem of running one and wanting the other. I suggest you do
not make any changes in your operations yet, wait for the official
announcements. I only comment on this to save us further discussion
for a couple of weeks, until all of this gets sorted out.
Now what do I say to the All-Campus Research Administrators' meeting
_tomorrow_?:)

Adobe released the latest version of their Adobe Reader software
(8.1.2). Grants.gov is currently testing the Adobe Reader version 8.1.2
for compatibility with Adobe Reader application packages. Until testing
is completed, Grants.gov still requires the use of Adobe Reader version
8.1.1 until further notice.
Adobe Reader 8.1.1 is available to download for free on the Grants.gov
website. For more information on Adobe Reader please visit the Help
section. Please note, not all applications are provided in Adobe Reader,
so it is recommended to also have the PureEdge Viewer installed.
The Grants.gov website has been updated to reflect the release of Adobe
Reader 8.1.2:
