We currently seek a Business Administrator for the Department of Pediatrics (Children's Memorial Hospital) at the Feinberg School of Medicine. This position is located on our Chicago campus. Specific Responsibilities: � Preparing annual budget in collaboration with Children's Administrator � Manages all departmental accounts including grant, philanthropic and general operations � Possessing and managing all financial transfers between PFF, Children's and FSM � Conducting monthly budgetary review and identifying, correcting, or following-up on variance situations � Completing pre-award/post-award functions for research grants, budget development, grant applications and management of subcontracts � Maintaining research budgets and providing Principal Investigators monthly activity reports � Assisting faculty with administrative needs relating to laboratories located in other areas of the University (Cancer Center, Evanston, etc.) � Supervising administrative staff and providing management support to the Principal Investigators for research/technical staff � Completing and documenting new employee orientation, performance appraisals, time cards and attendance records, check requests, staff scheduling and PTO requests � Working with Human Resources to recruit staff and fill vacancies, completing necessary requisitions and related documentation � Ensuring all administrative and technical staff are orientated to University policies/procedures and ensuring that all regulatory/compliance activities are completed � Maintaining and coordinating repair/replacement of office and lab furniture and supplies � Coordinating daily operational needs such as e-mail access, net-ids, parking, etc. � Managing all remodeling or construction projects from the design stage through the construction and close-out stages � Managing the physical facilities on Ward 12 Minimum Qualifications: � A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired; 3-5 years experience � Demonstrated competency in the following areas: Account reconciliation Communication-Oral and Written Dependability Efficiency Preferred Qualifications: � A master's degree, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired � Experience in academic environment and/or research administration � Demonstrated competency in grant administration and multi-tasking To Apply: Northwestern University offers a comprehensive benefit plan, including tuition discounts.
