New Book Sympathetic to Research Admin

To all,
I just experienced the joy of reading the new book by the late undersea explorer Jacques Cousteau (with Susan Schiefelbein), published almost ten years posthumously. What a surprise to come upon the chapter "Science and Human Values" and its references to export control issues, among other things! I had no idea that, as a scientist, Cousteau had formulated such strong views about regulatory and administrative issues. What a regret that he is no longer alive and can't be a speaker at one of our conferences!
The book is Cousteau, Jacques, and Susan Schiefelbein, "The Human, the Orchid, and the Octopus," 2007:Bloomsbury USA (New York), $25.95, 305 pp., ISBN-13:978-1-59691-417-9.
(The remainder of the book focuses on the joy of exploration, pollution issues, and anti-nuclear arguments.)
