Re: How To Do Time and Effort for Part-Timer?

Her time and effort needs to be calculated based on her current role at your institution, not what it was at the time she applied. Remember, time/effort allocated to a grant can always be changed as faculty's circumstances change, with proper approval, of course.

Perhaps I just need more coffee, but I could use help clearing up my confusion regarding how a professor should allocate her time on a time and effort report. This professor works 10 hours per week on a grant. She also teaches two graduate courses per semester. When she first received the three-year grant, she was a full-time tenure track professor in the undergraduate program. She is no longer tenure-track and no longer teaching in the undergraduate program. [Note: we do not allow adjunct professors to apply for grants. She had already secured this grant just prior to coming to us, and since she was hired as tenure-track, that seemed OK.]
I'm not sure whether the amount of time spent on the grant should be considered as a percentage of full-time (say, 20%) or as a percentage of her part-time employment with the graduate school (perhaps more like 50%)? Any advice would be appreciated.
