Job Description:
Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ, is seeking a highly
qualified professional for the position of Director of the Office of
Research and Sponsored Programs. The Director is expected to lead a
strong program that supports research activity at the University.

The Director reports to the Provost and is responsible for sustaining
and increasing research and programmatic external grant funding. The
successful candidate will work to encourage faculty proposal
development. The Director, working with a staff of two Pre-award
Officers, oversees and directs all aspects of pre-award proposal
submission to ensure compliance with funding agency policies. S/he acts
as the primary point of contact with funding agencies, and also
supervises a Post-Award Facilitator to support grant funded faculty with
purchasing and accounting. The Director supervises an Institutional
Review Board Administrator to support the administrative needs of the
IRB. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs also administers
several internal award competitions.

Qualifications & Requirements:
A Master’s Degree is preferred. 5 years in a higher education grant
related environment is required. The successful candidate will have a
working knowledge of electronic research submission protocols and
excellent computer skills. S/he must be comfortable working with
faculty, department chairs, and deans and have excellent oral and
written communication skills.

Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with experience
