Office for Sponsored Programs

The Office for Sponsored Programs at the University of Connecticut,
Storrs Campus, is seeking a Contracts Specialist to review, issue and
process grant-funded Personal Service and other research agreements with
fiscal and legal implications to assure compliance with granting agency
requirements, and compatibility with Federal and State statutes and
University policies.  The Contracts Specialist will identify and resolve
problems, write technical contract language, negotiate changes and
follow up as appropriate.  The Contracts Specialist will serve as a
resource regarding policies and procedures, provide training for
University administrative staff, and produce monthly, annual and ad hoc
reports of contract activity.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in appropriate field
and four years relevant experience OR eight years relevant experience in
a business organization or governmental agency involving contracting;
knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding grants and
contracts; exceptional follow-through, accuracy and attention to detail;
ability to multi-task and work independently and in a team environment;
and superior technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to function calmly in situations requiring tact and diplomacy.
Must be available to work a regular schedule between the hours of 8:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A Bachelor's degree is preferred.  Training or experience as a paralegal
or legal assistant, experience working with faculty or in a higher
education and/or research administration environment would be assets in
this position.  Experience using electronic research administration
software, Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access and
PowerPoint are desirable.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, permanent position, with a starting
target salary in the mid- to high-forties.
