Re: grant editing assistance Gina Betcher 09 Aug 2007 09:44 EST

Quantitative can be calculated on the number of faculty you have
served directly--through to submission. You can break it down even
more on the level of faculty--senior or junior. You've probably
worked with X number of new faculty from start to finish; you've
worked with X number of senior faculty in identifying funding
opportunities to X number of senior faculty by developing the budget
and justification; you're hit the button on Fastlane and in
Grants.gov to submit X-number of proposals. Overall, you have served
X to strengthen the content of proposals and in turn the reputation
of UML. You can count presentations, too, and the outcomes from
those.

I hope this helps you. You are worthy!

We have had some leadership changes at our institution and
questions have arisen over the value of offering general grant
editing
assistance-helping develop a clear and compelling proposal that
conforms
to the guidelines of the funder. Such assistance is a large part
of
what I do, though I never try to actually write the proposal, and
always
make clear my service does not replace, only augments, review of a
proposal by someone with expertise in that particular field. .
Quantitative measures of success I find hard to develop, as
obviously
proposals may be rejected for any number of reasons. In short,
any
suggestions on how I might justify my job? Sorry if this topic has
been
discussed a lot in the past-I'm new to RESADM-L. Thanks, Greg
