Director of Research Administration & Support Requisition ID:DE.0700305 Work Location:Legacy Highlands 054 80231 Entity:8 Public Department Description:IHR Administration Grade: M6 Scheduled Hrs per Week:40 Position Type:Full-Time Regular Employee Group: Non-Represented ERAP:N Shift:Day JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Research Administration and Support Services directs the research administration and support functions necessary to accomplish the mission, goals and objectives of the Institute for Health Research. The primary areas of responsibility include pre-award activities, project management, analytics, programming, contracts and grants, finance, vaccine / clinical trials, administrative support, and the tumor registry. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with the Principles of Responsibility and applicable regulatory requirements, external laws and accreditation standards. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 10 years experience in health care research administration and/or support services, with 5 years of progressive managerial responsibility. Master's degree or higher, preferably in a health-related area. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in research operations and support, finance, and compliance requirements. Excellent interpersonal, communications, organizational, management, collaboration and facilitation skills. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director will lead all functions supporting research activities of the IHR, assuring efficient, compliant administrative support and efficient, timely, quality research support. These responsibilities include the following: IHR Administration, including: Participating in, coordinating and overseeing implementation of the IHR strategic plan, including monitoring the work of the IHR Scientific Committee to assure appropriate future planning; Establishing and communicating IHR policies and procedures and KPCO HR policies consistent with all applicable requirements to facilitate efficient and effective research, administrative, fiscal and support functions; Providing consultation and support to members of the IHR to assure compliance with those policies; Overseeing administrative databases and systems (e.g., grant and financial tracking systems, IHR website); Collaborating with KPCO IT for procurement, systems implementation, training and maintenance; Leading internal communications and coordinating all hands meetings, team-building activities, and other department-wide activities as needed; Overseeing hiring and orientation of new non-investigator staff; participating in hiring and orientation of new investigators; Assuring staff development needs are identified and met; Overseeing the development of the IHR SQRMC and annual reports; participating in internal communications and presentations as appropriate; Chairing the Management Group; Collaborating with the Kaiser Foundation Research Institute; Linking with KPCO Corporate Communications. Business Operations, including: Assuring pre-award activities, contracts and grants, and finance are efficiently and effectively managed in service of the IHR mission and are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and other requirements; Assuring office support functions are efficient and effective and support the needs of the IHR; Planning, submitting and managing the IHR budget; Assuring investigators are supported and knowledgeable about their grant finances and projections; Overseeing planning and managing space. Research support, including: Overseeing the provision of high level professional, administrative and technical expertise and support in research design, data collection, project management, analysis and reporting. Planning to assure adequate, quality and efficient research support to meet the needs of the investigators and the IHR and to prevent project timeline conflicts and staff burnout.
