Response to Robert Bloomberg Discussion

Fellow Administrators--
Speaking as a relative newcomer to the profession (4 yrs.) and one currently
working toward CRA certification, this list has proven very valuable because of
the nature of the discussions and diversity of responses. I find the responses
that have specific citations the most helpful because it gives me the
opportunity to review the source document and determine it's applicability to
my situation. From reading the list for the last 6 mo. I have become familiar
with many of the names on the list and will start with certain peoples
responses because they will consistently respond with detail and thought and
I thank you for that. Specifically, if I see a discussion regarding G.g or
Commons I will look to see Bob Beattie's response first- Thank you Bob for
your constant input!
I have followed the discussions regarding development of the next generation
of administrators with interest as I feel that I am one of these individuals.
From that perspective, I would again say that the differing views is helpful
because the context of the question often dictates where to go to find
guidance. I will typically start with a source document and then see how the
group is interpreting it and applying it to their institution. The conclusion I
am coming to is that there isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer that will
cover all situations, only arrows to help guide us to act in the best interests
of our respective institutions.
With much appreciation for promoting discussion,
Michelle
