Updating Assurances/certifications in NIH Commons Shepard, Andy 08 May 2007 10:09 EST

Hello Fellow NIH Administrators,

With the requirement for the PI assurance on all NIH progress reports,
is each applicant organization required to secure a "written assurance"
from the PI in either a traditional "handwritten" format or through
alternative methods for each progress report? Or is securing a written
assurance at time of the competitive application sufficient?

Thanks for your responses.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Updating Assurances/certifications in NIH Commons

My apologies if this has been sent out to this list already.

The following was taken from:

NIH Announces Changes to eRA Commons, Particularly the Electronic
Streamlined Non-competing Award Process (eSNAP) Function
(NOT-OD-07-064) National Institutes of Health
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-07-064.html

*Changes to Institutional Profile Assurances/Certifications
*
The Assurances/Certification section within the Institutional Profile
has been revised to reflect all assurances included in NIH applications
and progress reports; specifically Prohibited Research, Select Agent
Research and PI Assurance have been added, others have been edited to
reflect current terminology. Institutional Officials submitting eSNAP
progress reports will be required to update the institutional profile to

indicate their compliance with these additional assurances. Grantees are

reminded that if an institution is not in compliance with any of these
assurances at the time of an eSNAP submission, additional information
concerning this issue must be included as part of the "Other
Attachments" in an eSNAP submission.

**Institutional Signing Officials are strongly encouraged to update the
Assurances/Certifications section within the Institutional Profile
immediately to avoid any potential delay of eSNAP submissions.*
*
Enjoy the weekend.

Pam
