You could, fairly easily, print the Grants.gov file to a .pdf, and then
combine that file with the attachments that were submitted with the .xfd
file. You'd have the entire submission in one neat little (errrr,
not-so-little) .pdf. The only uncertainty in that process is that you
are filing a copy of what you sent, not necessarily what they received.
But you have that uncertainty with many other electronic systems as
well, as you did with hardcopy submissions.

We haven't yet advanced to solely electronic document filing, so we keep
the above-mentioned .pdf, the original .xfd file, and a hard copy.

We are in the process of moving entirely to electronic document filing
and just realized that (surprise) grants.gov is a problem.

As you know, NSF FASTLANE (which we all love) gives you back a PDF
version of your proposal which we can file. (It also serves as an
indication that what NSF received was what you transmitted.) With g.g,
since there is no way to get a full copy of the proposal back, what
documentation do you maintain of the proposal?

We also have some concern about the proposals that have gone out via
the PureEdge software. What happens to all of those when PureEdge is
phased out later that year and when the software is no longer available?
(We're burning a copy of the software to a CD for reinstallation when we
replace PCs.)
