The Department of Health and Human Services has gone too far. First, we had to deal with NIH and ERA Commons. Now we have to deal with HRSA and EHB. Using grants.gov was supposed to simplify things, because we'd use one application system and not have to learn separate ones. With HHS, we're using grants.gov and needing to register and learn different electronic systems for each division...systems that are incredibly un-user-friendly and have woefully inadequate support services. It seems that HHS is violating the basic principle behind having grants.gov in the first place. My question: What's the best way to make our dissatisfaction known given the apparent way HHS is implementing use of grants.gov? ------------------------------------------------------- Nancy Kay Peterson, Director Grants & Sponsored Projects (G&SP) Winona State University Somsen Hall 212 Winona, MN 55987 Phone: 507.457.5519 Fax: 507.457.5586 http://www.winona.edu/grants -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@hrinet.org] On Behalf Of Shepard, Andy Sent: Thursday, February 22, 2007 9:07 AM To: xxxxxx@hrinet.org Subject: Re: [RESADM-L] HRSA AENT validation Hi, On a Nurse Traineeship UNH submitted to HRSA we received notice that it was in EHB to review. We went in to review and in most cases we had to re-confirm most of all the information that was in the electronic application! Two areas of concern: The PI is listed in three different areas of the application and in each instance I had to include the street number and mailing address to remove the "incomplete" notice for that form. This defeats the whole reason for electronic administration and UNH does not normally use street numbers and names, mostly building names. The other problem was none of the information provide in the required tables was carried over from the application. I had to go into each table and update them manually. Here is hoping HRSA can look at the EHB system and make some much needed revisions. And by the way I have emailed the help desk twice and left two messages for support and as of today I have received no response. Yesterday both phone numbers were busy all day so I could not leave a voice message so I sent another email. All corrections are due in one week so timely follow up would be appreciated. Anyone else have another solution to getting the application complete for submission? I did work with the call center, Karen Breeden at HRSA AENT and the technical assistance folks to get this completed. Lori Lori B. I was told they had just started processing or were just about to start processing. This was around Thursday, Feb 15th. From what I understand, the 2nd phase is not due until Feb 26 and the mailing of the signed face page isn't due until 5 days after you get the verification of successful submission of the 2nd phase. I think they may just have been inundated and with the weather, very very very shorthanded. Matt Matthew D.
