DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT Ohio University TITLE: Director of Technology Development DESCRIPTION: Ohio University seeks a full-time Director of Technology Development. The Director reports to the Vice President for Research and is responsible for the administration, coordination and disposition of all intellectual property and technology commercialization matters at the University. The position will also provide support to the University's incubation center and university personnel to assist in the growth of research partnerships and to the Offices of Research and Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance and to ensure protection of intellectual property. QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires a minimum of a master degree in science or engineering or MBA or law degree with undergraduate degree in science or engineering. Candidates must have at least 5 years experience in technology transfer, preferably at an academic institution. Candidates must have knowledge of and a proven track record in intellectual property, licensing and technology transfer, including negotiation of complex technology licensing agreements. Candidates must have outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty, staff, students and community members. Preferred: Experience in a university technology transfer office, preferably at an Associate Director position or above. Familiarity with business development and marketing. RESPONSIBILITY: - Educate faculty, research staff and students about the development and protection of intellectual property. - Works with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs to draft and negotiate term sheets, licenses, and other agreements. - Consult with Research Compliance on issues of conflict of interest. - Provide support to the University's incubation center to assist in the growth of research partnerships - Work with outside counsel to develop patents and secure licenses. - Advise the VP for Research on potential licensing agreements HOW TO APPLY: Applications ONLY accepted via the Ohio University Jobs website.
