Re: ALL Users of the ONR AwardWeb, AdminWeb, and PayWeb Systems.

Hi Rich,
Just completed the process for our Research Admin office. Only did 4 users and it has taken all day. I initially tried ECA and Verisign and kept getting HTTP: 500 errors part of the way into the application process. Found a troubleshooting tip on ECA's website about a change that needs to be made to the registry on Windows computers. After making the change I went to ECA's site to get the certificates. Had an unusual thing happen on every machine I was trying to register. It occurred after I set up the security level for the certificate. I would get the page with the print message at the top, but there would only be 2 pages. I had to hit the back button in my browser (IE), and then complete the security setting for the certificate all over again. Once I did that, I got the four page application and was able to print it out. There are very specific instructions concerning what to put in the photo ID boxes on page 2. Hopefully installing the certificate will be much easier than applying for it.
I wish you luck!

Has anyone actually completed the process of purchasing, & installing, a PKI
certificate for DoD Websites?
I¹m grateful to Steve Shapiro for offering initial insight as to the
differences between the certificate vendors. But I admit, it¹s still a bit
uncertain which vendors are best in practice... (VeriSign, ORC, or
IdenTrust/ DST).
Has anyone had the full buying/installing/using experience yet? Can we even
test our certificates before January 4th?
Finally, HOW does one use a traditional notary in obtaining these electronic
certificates?
