Nope--you're not off and it's not a rumor. Someone asked precisely this
question at the teleconference where the "pathways" awards were
announced. There were only a few people on the call and very few
questions, so one fellow asked an unrelated question--this one.
NIH does indeed plan to discontinue these rankings, as Dr. Zerhouni,
Story Landis, and Norka Ruiz Bravo acknowledged--and for precisely this
reason. With multiple PI's they don't make much sense anymore.

Have I missed something or has NIH neglected to inform us of the method
that they are using to give "credit" to multiple PIs? Specifically, how
is the money being divided for the ranking tables?
