Most of you probably deal with this issue all the time. How is paying
an international scholar handled on the university side? My faculty
member seems to have the NSF budget side covered, she is calling the
person a post-doctoral associate (she is aware that an international PhD
cannot be paid as "senior personnel"). We are more concerned about the
in-house management of this. The work will be done in Uruguay.
NSF has advised her that to be in the budget the person must be named a
post-doc or visiting scholar some other designation at our school. We
won't however be paying her benefits. What would be the preferred
manner of treating this?
Thank you in advance for any advice. You guys have been wonderful with
other queries.
