Pre-Award Grant Specialist

The West Virginia University Research Corporation (WVURC) seeks to hire a competent Pre-Award Grant Specialist in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to provide project management and administrative support by assisting with development and delivery of formal proposals to external funding agencies.

This position will work directly with faculty & staff to help them produce proposals with optimal prospects for success by maintaining knowledge of professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements such as the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), programs under the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other governmental agencies, as well as, adhering to applicable industry standards. Provides general and specific advice and direction to faculty and staff on budget development.  Identifies, investigates, & proposes viable resolutions to proposal needs. Responsibilities require research, organization, judgment, resourcefulness and originality.  Sharing of knowledge with others, team participation, program, project or activity lead responsibilities are expected.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, file conversion & ability to quickly master specialized software applications is required. Incumbent must be able to operate effectively & prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field or equivalent experience; 3 years of broad based experience in grant & contract administration with at least 1 year of experience with electronic Research Administration (eRA).
