Re: Question RE: late submission of an R15 electronic submission to the NIH because of study section duties Robert Beattie 17 Oct 2006 11:26 EST
Guidelines say to enclose a cover letter explaining late Grants.gov submissions. Seems just like the paper process. My concern would be when Grants.gov shuts down the submission process for this program. We have done NIH applications a few days after the deadline with no problem. These were PI rejections that we resubmitted (with cover letter). We did an EPA application, however, the day after the deadline, and it was rejected. This is good publicity for early submission :) At workshops, I get the same question about PI's in study sections. See page I-26 of the NIH Application Guide for the text on late applications. Especially note, " Permission is not granted in advance for submission of a late application." So, I am looking forward to hearing from others who did 2 week late applications. Maybe someone from NIH can give us the definitive answer Bob xxxxxx@umich.edu On Oct 17, 2006, at 11:46 AM, Plotkin, Pamela T. wrote: Good morning- I thought I’d ask this of the list, b/c I’m likely to get a much quicker reply. We have a PI who is has been granted an additional 2 weeks to submit her R15 (deadline is October 25th) because she on a NIH study section. With paper submissions, we always sent the NIH a note along with the grant proposal, indicating that the PI had additional time as a result of taking part in the study section. Does anyone know if there is anything special we need to do to submit the electronic application late? Will Grants.gov/NIH accept late applications? As always, I really appreciate your feedback.
