DESCRIPTION:

The Grants Development Office (GDO) is an integral part of the University's Research and Graduate Programs office. It is the principal campus unit that provides administrative support for the University's efforts to secure external sponsorship of research, professional development and instructional programs. The GDO is staffed by three Grants Analysts, an Information Analyst, a department Administrative Support Assistant, and student assistants as needed.

The GDO is dedicated to faculty service, with an open-door philosophy. The Director provides management and leadership in carrying out the objectives and responsibilities of the Office;
works closely with the Dean of Research and Graduate Programs (RGP) to support the RGP mission; provides training and guidance to GDO personnel; and works with faculty and administrators to address problems and issues that arise in the course of proposal development. The Director takes responsibility for proposals and GDO activities that involve enhancement of University research programs, institutional initiatives, multi-disciplinary projects, development of funding for centers and institutes, development of external funding plans for new and/or untenured faculty, marketing faculty and institutional capabilities to potential sponsors, master agreements with corporate and other entities, negotiation of contracts when necessary, and other exceptional projects that may arise. The Director provides oversight and guidance in the area of resources and publications and in informing faculty and administrators about the services offered by the GDO.
