Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Grants and Contracts Manager, directly or through subordinates, will identify and disseminate funding opportunities, prepare, negotiate, interpret and accept proposals and subawards funded from government, public and private sources, implement and manage systems and processes which support the tracking and reporting of information, and provide analyses and reports for senior leadership and the Board of Trustees. You will monitor awards to ensure compliance with funding source reporting requirements and terms and conditions of awards, manage on-going post-award issues, such as no-cost time extensions, carry-forward of funds, and re-budgeting between cost categories, communicate essential terms of awards to program staff and others, respond to questions related to the status of pending actions, interpret policies, and ensure timely resolution of issues and closure of awards, develop internal policies, and have the ability to assess the organization's training needs, and develop and implement staff training.
The ideal candidate for this position will posses:
· College degree in business administration, public administration or related field and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience with grant and contract applications, proposal preparation, and review and submission, preferably with NIH grants in an independent research institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to effectively evaluate project costing.
· Ability to design and implement effective work flow processes and procedures
· Strong analytical skills leading to excellent problem solving
· Strong computer and spreadsheet skills; experience with MS Office and Access preferred.
· Knowledge of information technology for grants management systems
· Effective communicator with strong writing skills
· Ability to organize, oversee and perform multiple tasks, delegate priorities and meet deadlines.
· Supervisory experience required.
