Director, Sponsored Programs Services
Director, Sponsored Programs Services, Washington State University.
This is a full-time, 12-month, permanent Administrative Professional
position. The Director provides leadership and direction for Sponsored
Programs Services which includes 17 FTE. Responsible for planning,
developing, managing and administering programs and strategies;
substantial responsibility for directing or controlling program
operations and accountable for the allocation of resources and program
results; establishing and implementing short- and long-range
organizational goals and objectives; representing the University to
internal and external constituents; ensuring University compliance and
effective fiscal management in areas such as financial reporting,
contract analysis, evaluation and account determination; effort
reporting and cost sharing. In collaboration with the Sponsored Programs
staff, the Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field AND six
(6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has
included at least two (2) years of managerial experience. A Master's
degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of
the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field.
Substantial managerial experience in sponsored programs administration
within a major research university or related academic environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead a unit with a positive, solutions-oriented,
customer service perspective. Working knowledge of federal, state and
other regulations governing grant and contract administration. In depth
knowledge of OBM Circulars A-21, A-110 and A-133. In depth knowledge of
cost accounting standards, facilities and administrative analysis.
Proven advancement at a research university having primary campus,
research stations and branch campuses. Good general knowledge
pertaining to research contracts, patents, copyrights, material-transfer
agreements, confidentiality agreements and post award cost accounting.
Experience using software and technology applications, including
Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and
relevant web based applications that improve workflow and organizational
efficiencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills which
includes the ability to author, deliver and provide training of complex
material to all levels of constituents. Demonstrated ability to work
independently; work well as part of a team; interact with diverse groups
of constituents in a positive and professional manner; maintain good
working relationships in an environment requiring confidentiality, tact,
diplomacy and sensitivity; resolve sensitive and sometimes
confrontational situations with tact.
Salary: $63K-$70K DOE.
