The Office for Sponsored Programs, central research administration
office at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, is seeking a
high-energy professional to provide fiscal and administrative leadership
in managing the sponsored research enterprise at the University of
Connecticut.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Associate
Director will manage the day-to-day activities of the office, assisting
with functions and issues that impact the University's grant and
contract financial records and ensuring compliance with Federal, state,
and University policies, procedures, regulations and statutes.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Assists the Executive Director in managing
and evaluating the overall planning and coordination of the Office to
assure compliance with federal, state, University and sponsor policies
and regulations;  oversees and supervises staff involved with all phases
of the management of sponsored programs;  directs professional staff
responsible for the financial management of sponsored project activity;
responsible for the development, design, and implementation of policies
and procedures for sponsored project administration;  provides
authoritative leadership in interpretation and implementation of
federal, state and other policies (such as OMB Circulars A-21, A-133,
and A-110 and the Cost Accounting Standards);  provides oversight for
preparation of all sponsored research and fiscal reports required by
outside agencies and Approves proposals, contracts, agreements and
administrative actions in the absence of the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:  Masters degree in a business field or
commensurate educational experience.  Masters in Business
Administration/Certified Public Accountant preferred.    Certified
Research Administrator certification desirable; Proven record of ten or
more years of progressively responsible, advanced financial/accounting
and management experience, preferably in a public sector.  Comprehensive
knowledge of sound financial management and accounting practices and
principles, ability to independently interpret federal state, University
and other policies, rules and regulations governing sponsored research,
and proven ability to analyze and resolve highly complex issues that
have legal and fiscal implications.  Ability to develop policies and
priorities within established guidelines and to provide ongoing
management and evaluation.  Experience mentoring, supervising, and
evaluating staff at various levels with superior oral and written
communication skills; customer service orientation.

This is a full-time, permanent position.  Salary will be commensurate
with experience.
