Re: NIH Proposal Submission training Robert Beattie 02 Aug 2006 15:46 EST
Regarding the question on training. I have been watching the videos here, from NIH http://era.nih.gov/ElectronicReceipt/training.htm#4 This is about all you would need to create your own local materials. First there is an excellent verbal presentation by Marcia Hahn with nice power point slides. Perhaps you would not put Marcia in front of your admin staff in the units who will be filling out the applications. She is good for the Grants Office staff. She says "you " quite often and it is not always clear if this refers to the PI, the PI admin staff or the Grants Office staff. It is all good info for the latter. However, I think too much for the first two audiences. I plan to create my own 2 hour power point presentation based on Marcia's comments and draw from her slides combined with some relevant to what we do here. Do look at the note that is shown here. The one day review time for accepted applications is troublesome. The note says "was changed" but I can find no such information. Did anyone else get this? Also, we need to redo many of our website pages because of the Grants.gov cosmetic changes. Where did they get the extra money to just change pages, which were pretty good in the first place? From NIH web Note: The above video was recorded before NIH’s expected turnaround time for an eRA Commons response to an application submission was changed from two business days to one business day. The screenshots of the Grants.gov website in the video also do not reflect the new look of that website. We have some useful information on our site which anyone can use. We are in the process of updating this for our fall (starting in late August) training schedule. http://www.research.umich.edu/era/grantsgov/index.html Bob ------------------------------ Robert Beattie UMich Grants.gov Liaison xxxxxx@umich.edu (734) 936-1283 Learn more about Grants.gov @ UMICH http://www.research.umich.edu/era/grantsgov/ On Aug 2, 2006, at 4:08 PM, Foschia, Chris wrote: In the fall, we will be submitting our first NIH proposal and our first proposal through grants.gov.
