Thanks, everyone...
Because my PI doesn't believe what I tell him, I called NIH OPERA for
the last word.  They really don't want paper anymore, unless the on-line
article is not _PUBLICLY_ accessible (i.e., a password or subscription
is needed to access the site) or there is no on-line version available.
If your PIs are as anal-retentive as mine are, they will not be
penalized if they insist on sending paper - although OPERA cautions that
most reviewers won't even see the appendix materials.
